Executive Director Named

August 16, 2010
The Animal Welfare League of Arlington is pleased to announce that Neil Trent will join the organization as Executive Director in September 2010. Neil brings over 30 years of experience in international, national and local animal welfare. He is currently the Executive Director of the Longmont Humane Society in Longmont, Colorado.

"Neil has dedicated his career to the humane treatment of animals," said Joanne Del Toro, President of the Board of Directors. "To have someone with such experience, leadership and compassion at the helm of the League is exciting for the people and animals of Arlington County. The Board looks forward to working with Neil."

The Animal Welfare League of Arlington conducted a national search for a new Executive Director. The League was founded in 1944 to improve the welfare of stray, abused and neglected animals in Northern Virginia. Today the League's mission encompasses providing temporary care and refuge for homeless and suffering animals, placing animals in suitable homes, preventing cruelty to animals, educating the public and providing community services. The League has also provided animal control services to Arlington County since 1983.
