We are beyond proud to celebrate Ann, who has been honored with the 2024 President’s Award from the Virginia Animal Control Association! This award recognizes citizens who have made a profound impact on animal care at the local level, and no one is more deserving than Ann.
For 25 years, Ann has been a tireless advocate for animals, starting as an early morning kennel scrub volunteer before becoming a dedicated Animal Care Technician. Her commitment to their well-being goes far beyond daily care – she became an AKC-certified safe groomer and later a Fear Free Certified groomer to ensure that both shelter pets and community pets in need receive free grooming services. Thanks to Ann, over 400 dogs each year, who might not otherwise have access to grooming, get the care they need to stay happy and healthy.
Ann’s compassion doesn’t stop at dogs – she’s also a certified wildlife rehabilitator, specializing in caring for orphaned and injured squirrels, and has worked alongside Animal Control Officers to provide support for pet owners in need.
As Chief Toussaint, who nominated Ann, put it: “Ann’s constant dedication to improving the lives of animals in her community is deeply commendable, and her 25 years of service is a legacy no one will soon forget.”
Please join us in thanking and congratulating Ann for this well-earned honor!
